| On 30 October, 2007 the third GEMI Fund scientific seminar and grant award ceremony was held in Munich. This year the one million US dollars were awarded to eight researchers, who received their diplomas from the hands of Professor Dr Wolfgang Reitzle, CEO of The Linde Group. During the day, grantees from the 200 5 round of funding presented papers outlining their findings. Also making a presentation during the day was Christer Fuglesang, a NASA and ESA astronaut, who described his space walks in 2006 and his experiences with radiation during trips to the Space Station.
